PMQ was orginially the Hollywood Road Police Married Quarters. The inner structure is very simple with only one corridor connects all the rooms. The green doors and white window frames give people a clean and fresh feeling.

PMQ was originally built in 1951 as the Police Married Quarters revitalization as well we renovation. In November 2010, the HKSAR Government launched a proposal for preserving the site for innovative industries uses.

The exclusive operating right was granted to PMQ Management Co, Ltd, a non- profit-making social enterprise set up by the Musketeers Education and Culture Charitable Foundation Ltd., in collaboration with the Hong Kong Design Centre,The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Hong Kong Design Institute of the Vocational Training Council.

There is a Sky garden on fourth floor. Tourist may also find a map there to help them understand the structure of the building.

They aim at establishing PMQ as an icon of Hong Kong creative industries that shines in the region, whilst showcasing HK's high quality brands and build success in the global market; as well as raising the appreciation of the value towards design and innovation.

The PMQ at present serves as a unique creative hub for Hong Kong with a focus on design, offering an open platform for local talents to showcase their own innovations – local brands, handmade crafts, homemade foodies or even showrooms of individual designers can be found here. Enjoy the decor of old versus new and location within a beautiful historic building as it displays, as mentioned, a mixture of big retail brands and small, local HK brands. From fashion, furniture and stationary, to children’s clothing and kitchen accessories, to name but a few.

Make sure to check out their various workshops, including jewelry making, meditation and healthy eating. Say goodbye to boring weekends!
