Raymond Shuai Sui-wai, the director of Mr Simms Hong Kong, decided to quit his job after working in Hong Kong for more than four years as an accountant in order to do something he was more passionate about. Shuai grew up in Britain and used to purchase a lot of sweets when he was at university. He began to miss those sweets a lot because he could not find them anywhere in Hong Kong. So he called Martin Peet, the founder of Mr Simms, and successfully bought the franchise—the first outside Britain and Ireland—to start his own candy shop business in October 2014.

Located at 37 Lyndhurst Terrace in Central, the traditional old fashioned sweets shop offers over 1,000 confectioneries in all shapes, sizes and prices. The sweets are stored in gigantic glass jars neatly lined in shelves, one next to another. Those who grew up in the UK will probably recognize a lot of the products found in the shop, including Cherry Lips, Pear Drops, Jelly Babies, Wham Bars and many more. Besides candies, the shop have an exclusive “Mr Simms Handmade Chocolate Collection”, which is a collection of chocolate bars with unique flavors that differs from the usual found in stores. With its quaint Victorian style décor, this English retro candy store not only stand out from the crowd but also create a nostalgic atmosphere.

The “Shoppe” would definitely be excellent news to Brits or those who grew up in the UK with a sweet tooth. However, the locals need not feel left out because the friendly shop assistants are more than willing to recommend sweets that suit your liking to you. The big smile on their faces will remind you of the ones on a child’s face when they see sweets. They will also explain each type of sweets with patience. So first time or not, Mr Simms will be a nice option if you are craving sweets or looking for a “sweet” gift for your loved ones.

The cashier inside is surrounded by jars of candy. The candies here are sold in gram but not packs. Some of the candies cost $20/100g, Some $30/100g. You can choose whatever you want.
