There are in total 14 branches in Hong Kong and Macau. Many local and international fans still prefer to go to the main store in Central as they wish to savor the good old days.
What makes Tai Cheong reputable is that it has its own unique egg filling formula. And it is also the pioneer of producing cookie-crusts. Aside from being careful with the volume of filling poured, timing is also crucial. In Tai Cheong, egg tarts have to be baked for 13 minutes before rotating the tray. After that, 4 minutes are required for waiting.
Tai Cheong is the right place to go if you are hunting for fine egg tarts ($7 HKD each). Their piping hot and mouth-watering yellowish custards are highly ranked by customers. The smooth and creamy filling and the buttery crust have made their egg tarts the best selling products over the past 60 years. Customers can never forget the crumbly crust mixing with the lukewarm velvety custard that melts in the mouth.

Tai Cheong Bakery has become legendary since 1954 when the first store of the branch was established. It provides customers with wide-ranging traditional Chinese buns and pastries. It is especially reputable for its freshly baked egg tarts with crispy crusts. With its 6 decades of development, Tai Cheong has experienced and witnessed Hong Kong’s growth such as property inflation. Due to unaffordable high rent, Tai Cheong was forced to close down in 2005, but reopened later.

Apart from the egg tarts, there are also a variety of baked products, including cookies, buns and wife cakes. Hope that you will be lucky to arrive with a fresh batch of hot goods out of the oven!
